USS Hector
Sailors Association

The purpose of this association is to perpetuate and memorialize the accomplishments of the men and women
who served aboard the Hector, and to foster goodwill and fellowship among all former USS Hector sailors.

About the Association

The USS Hector Sailors Association is an informal organization that was brought about entirely by volunteers
who have been willing to assume a leadership position in the association’s formation and continued growth.

Since 1988 when the first Hector reunion was organized by Alfred Rule MM2 (Plank Owner) (43-50) (deceased)
and held in Sacramento, California, the roster has grown to over 1,400 names of former Hector sailors, and more
are being added daily. Following is a listing of the biennual reunions sponsored by dedicated USS Hector shipmates:

1988 - Alfred Rule MM2 (43-50), in Sacramento, California
1990 - Bruce Harrell MD3 (46-50), in Lake Havasu City, Arizona
1992 - Robert Pratt MM3 (49-50) Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
1994 - Harley Moore BM3 (71-75) Salt Lake City, Utah
1996 - Dan Karwoski BM3 (50-51) Virginia Beach, Virginia
1998 - Nick Carter SK3 (50-52) and Carl Taylor EM2 (49-52) Buena Park, California
2000 - Francis Ford FN (51) and Dan Karwoski BM3 (50-51) Kissimmee, Florida.
2002 - Bob Lea BT1 (49-55) and Pete Pilgrim BT2 (49-53) Branson, Missouri
2004 - Carroll Faris MR1 (50-54) and Jim Friedel FT2 (50-54) Albuquerque, New Mexico
2006 - Don Muffley MM2 (56-59) and John Blevins EMFN (72-73) Hagerstown, Maryland

The next reunion will be held in Rapid City, South Dakota
and will be sponsored by Marvin Bonnet BM3 (56-62) and Marvin Acklie RMSN (56-57).
